Something which we notice about many callers nowadays is that they refuse to or even look down upon refuting and calling out bid’ah. They may claim to avoid it because of “division” and to stay “united” but we can only be united upon the true guidance and as the prophet ﷺ said: “every innovation is midguidance” and he ﷺ did not make any exceptions.
I was prompted to write this short post whilst listening to the lessons on Uṣūl al-Sunnah by al-Imām Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal raḥimahullāh taught by Shaykh Abdurahman Al-Omaisan ḥafiẓahullāh in which he mentions that the prophet ﷺ warned against bid’ah and it’s people even before it and they emerged in this ummah, and also that the salaf (especially the ṣaḥābah) were very harsh and firm against innovation and its adherents.
If the prophet ﷺ and the salaf were so harsh and firm against bid’ah then how can we today not be harsh against bid’ah? When so many more innovations have affected the ummah since then?
